"The Man In Your Box"
M-F 7-10

Michael started his journey in high school when he got involved in theatre.  After 4 years he graduated from Marist College Prep High School, and turned his desire into a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.  He graduated from Columbia College in Chicago. It is one of the premiere liberal arts colleges in the country.  He took with him a 3.86/4.00 grade point average and the title of an honors graduate.
While attending Columbia College,  Michael interned at WBBM-FM B-96.  During his time with WBBM-FM he worked in the community relations department. His responsibilities included producing the daily run program "Tell me what's on your mind".  The piece was a collection of Man on the Street interviews.  Compiling the voices of Chicago and their thoughts on Timely Questions. He also produced and edited the weekly community calendar and interview program, "Chicago Connection".  PSA's, researching program ideas and working with major market talents and programmers were a daily routine.  During his tenure, WBBM-FM became the #1 top 40 station in the country.
After graduation Michael started working at WBUS.  A 50,000 Watt top 40 station in the Chicago market.  His roles included on-air and production.  During that time, Michael and his friends, founded the theatre group "Sam I Ain't" productions.  A group dedicated to spreading the joy of comedic theatre into the community.  A group that made the community laugh with the performance of underground comedies.  Set design, sales and promotion were roles Michael played as well.
It was in 1995 that Michael followed his love for radio to Fort Wayne Indiana.  It was at that time that a new format was beginning.  The Alternative format.  WEJE - 96.3 The Edge, gave Michael his stage to become a #1 talent.  A Favorite with women 18 - 34 and a hit with men 18 to 54.  While there, Michael took on many responsibilities.  He was the assistant production director for WYSR (Star 94.1) , WCKZ (Z-102. 3),  WGL (Talk Radio 1250am), and WEJE (96.3 The Edge).  During his almost 6 years, Michael worked every day part, did weekly remotes, created an interactive radio show with his listeners and became a market favorite.
In the spring of 2001, Michael moved his dream to Taos, New Mexico.  A chance to live in one of the worlds most beautiful and sacred places.  He is now the Man in Your Box on "The Mountain - 95.9" Michael brings his improvisational skills, theatrical weirdness and radio production prowess to the table, (on-air stage) for your listening enjoyment every weekday morning from 7 to 10am.  Get interactive, call Michael Dean at 737-KKIT.

Jeff SingerI remember playing radio DJ on the roof of my house listening to Chick Hearne broadcast LA LAKER games on KHJLos Angeles at the age of 8.  All my dreams of being in radio sprouted then.

I have worked at some legendary radio stations over the years.  I got my first break at WOOJ in Ft. Myers, FL.  I did overnights Midnight to 6am.  One of The Morning Show guys got a job writing comedy for the American Comedy Network and the Program Director of WOOJ asked if I would like to stay and do mornings for an extra 100.00 a week.  In 1981 that was a lot of money. I learned from some of the best in radio at the time.

I have been privileged to work at some legendary stations, WYNF Tampa, WSHE Miami, KAJA San Antonio, KALC Denver, KRST Albuquerque, KKCS Colorado Springs, and does anybody remember KRBL "The Rebel Rocker" in Albuquerque?  I did the Morning Show there.  Had more fun at that station than anybody ever should.  That is when I tried Valerie Bertinelli's lasagna backstage at a Van Halen concert.  I knew I had arrived, lol!

I have been married to my lovely wife and Best Friend, Melissa since 2000.  My angel Kaileigh was born on February 15, 2004.  I have been back in Taos since December 2003.  I love Taos, my parents, brothers, Grandparents and my entire extended family lives here and I would not want to live anywhere else.

December of 2008 marks 5 years that I have been with KKIT/KKTC/KXMT and KVOT. As the Operations Manager of all 4 stations as well as Morning Show Host for "True Country" KKTC and Afternoon Host for KKIT "The Mountain" I can Proudly say "This is the best group of stations I Have ever worked for. Thank you to my partner Julz Brown, you make teaching radio fun again!  Finally, Thank you to Michael Dean my right hand together we make Fantastic radio Mi Amigo!
